Motek – A complete business solution

Challenge

Motek has achieved significant success and had grown out of their previous IT-solution. To ensure future growth and the ability to supply new services to their customers, their entire IT-platform had to be replaced.

Solution

Pearl implemented a complete new SAP platform as a cloud service from Amazon Web Services within 6 months. The solution covered all business processes. Motek and Pearl have a close partnership in which Pearl ensures daily operations, maintenance and implementation of new functionality.

Customer's benefits

Motek is a direct supplier of tools and fixings to the construction industry. They are an importer of strong brands such as Hilti, Festool, and Stanley Bostitch, and also have their own in-house brand, “Motek,” within fixings and adhesive sealants. Motek was founded in 1954 when they got the Hilti contract. From being just a few employees, they have grown to 275 Norwegian and 15 Swedish employees.

"What will ensure Motek's success and growth in the future is that we get the right people and that we manage to keep and develop our employees. We are also dependent on our suppliers developing together with us and on having good service providers, such as Pearl, so that we can develop in all channels," says Motek's CEO, Vegard Halden.

Delivery precision

Motek has delivery precision rates the customers are particularly happy with. They deliver to the entire south-eastern region of Norway within 24 hours of an order being placed.

They repair roughly 30 000 tools in the workshop each year and aim to complete repairs within three days.

"For this to work, we are entirely dependent on a good back-office system. SAP needs to work every day, all the time, and we don’t have time for system problems, says Head of IT Ketil Greve Aubert in Motek.

"Our experience is that the upgrade has been much simpler than we had feared. The programs that SAP has delivered have worked, and Pearl has helped and worked hard to get this in place. After we got started, it was less than two months from we gave the go-ahead and until we were up and running on the new version," says Aubert.

"It is essential for us to have a partner who takes total responsibility for both database operations and the SAP application. Pearl does that. In addition, they are pleasant to work with; we can talk to them, and we can talk with them. That is why they are an easy choice of collaborator for us, given that we are looking to grow and develop in the future," says Aubert.
