Dafgårds - migrating to SAP S/4HANA

Challenge

Dafgårds has been SAP users since 2000 and has used SAP ECC until the migration to S/4HANA. With the ECC's on-premise solution, any system upgrades forced the factory to shut down production, often for 48 hours or longer. With the factory usually running more or less 24/7, this was no longer sustainable for the company, and they saw a need to move the ERP system to the cloud to have shorter stops and work faster.

Solution

The company quickly found that AWS was the best cloud platform for their needs and would enable them to work and iterate faster. Simultaneously transforming to S/4HANA would provide a better and more user-friendly business management system, with more effective work processes and access to more functions.

By moving the ERP system to the cloud, Dafgårds will achieve more flexible and stable operations without worrying about shutting down production for long periods during system upgrades.

In addition, S/4HANA will provide a more intuitive work tool, with access to features such as AI functions, real-time analysis, and visualization tools, which will facilitate exciting innovation and business development.

Convinced by the Pearl culture

Finding the right migration partner was a long process, with several suppliers delivering offers. In the end, however, Dafgårds had no doubt that Pearl was the right partner.

"Pearl had a lot of experience from several large customers, such as NorEngros, Vinmonopolet, and Outnorth, so we felt very confident in their expertise, says co-owner and tech and marketing manager in Dafgårds," Carl Dafgård.

Another important point for the company was Pearl's corporate culture and attitude towards customers.

"We really liked their concept and culture, in that they focus on the end result and do not lock themselves too much into one way of doing things. They were flexible and listened to us, and together we iterated to something we are both very happy with," he explains.

High expectations

Dafgård says they felt they had a good match with Pearl, a company continuously growing in Sweden and the rest of the Nordic region. He adds that it's great to work with "the neighbors" because not many Norwegian companies manage to take such a position as Pearl has done in the market.

"We are still in the initial phase of the migration, but Pearl has so far given such a good impression that we have high expectations for further cooperation, and we certainly envisage continuing with PearlCare when the migration is completed," he says.
